Other features of the environments

With a solid understanding of Micro and Scaling environments, the next step is to master the large-scale operation of your ecosystem. The following content explores advanced management features, covering Settings, Sessions, Maintenance, and History.

These features are key to optimizing your operational routine, allowing you to centralize access, securely manage applications in bulk, and maintain an auditable log of all system changes.

Environment Settings and Application Management

The Environment Settings section clearly displays all applications associated with clients within that specific environment.

Applications

To optimize and streamline operational routines, we have implemented bulk application management. This approach is an effective solution for handling the complexity and high volume of applications, allowing you to simultaneously, accurately, and efficiently add, modify, or remove systems across multiple clients.

Before managing applications in bulk, ensure your user profile has the required administrative permissions for this operation.

Settings List Actions

When accessing the applications list in the environment settings, click the actions button to perform the following operations:

  • Add Client: Allows you to identify which clients the application is not yet associated with and immediately add it to the desired locations.

  • Remove: Permanently removes the selected application from the linked clients.

  • Rename: Allows you to change the application's display name. Clicking this option opens a dedicated pop-up window to edit the name.

  • View Details: Shows precisely which clients have the application deployed and its current status (active or inactive). From this screen, you can also generate a PDF report containing the environment name, the application name, and the exact timestamp of when the document was generated.

  • Activate / Deactivate: Quickly identifies where the application is active or inactive, allowing you to toggle the status with a single click.

Sessions

The Sessions tab functions centrally, similar to the Instances section. It allows you to monitor all users connected across all instances in the environment in real time from a single, unified view.

  • Streamlined Management: This centralized visibility allows you to terminate connections in bulk (disconnecting multiple users simultaneously), ensuring a quick and efficient response during emergency maintenance or security events.

Maintenance and History

The features in the Maintenance tab are essential for safeguarding the system and alerting users about downtime before they even attempt to access the application environment.

Blocking and Warning Modes

  • Show Alert: Allows you to configure and schedule custom messages to inform users about upcoming downtime at specific times.

  • Scheduled Maintenance:

This feature blocks user access at a defined date and time, allowing for scheduled maintenance. It can also terminate active sessions and prevent new logins from clients linked to the environment.

  • Manual Maintenance: Used for emergency scenarios, this feature immediately blocks access to the environment. By default, active sessions are not terminated upon activation, but new logins are immediately blocked. Upon enabling Manual Maintenance, the administrator gains access to the following options:

    • Terminate Sessions: Immediately disconnects all logged-in users.

    • Terminate Instances: Immediately shuts down the environment's instances.

  • Daily Instance Locking: Allows you to schedule an automated routine to shut down and lock instances daily during predefined time windows.

Whenever you enable or disable maintenance, or show an alert, you must provide a reason for the action. This explanation is automatically logged in the history, ensuring complete transparency and traceability.

Detailed Maintenance History

The system features a detailed history log that operates on a versioning concept. It tracks and displays all interactions within the environment, documenting who made each change and when it occurred. This simplifies management, governance, and auditing processes.

Viewing the History:

Click the Maintenance History icon located on the right side of the screen. A pop-up window will open, displaying the following layout:

  • Top Section: Displays the date and time of the most recent environment maintenance update.

  • Middle Section: Presents the chronological history of Scheduled Maintenance. It displays the previous and current status, start and end dates, whether the terminate instances/sessions options were selected, and the reason provided by the operator.

  • Bottom Section: Displays the Manual Maintenance history. All fields in this area compare and display both previous and current values.

  • Timeline (Right Side): Shows all recorded maintenance versions, indicating the responsible user and a summary of changes. Clicking any version opens a secondary window with its full details.

  • Visual Legend: All values and settings highlighted in green represent the environment's current and active state.

  • Change Validation: When making modifications on the maintenance screens and clicking Save, a confirmation pop-up window will appear. Remember that you must provide a reason to successfully save the change.
